The Holiday Fall

Created by Pieter 10 years ago
"You haven't had your holiday fall yet mum" remarked one of the boys, ten days into a two week vacation and just three seconds before Tracy slipped down the stairs leading to Snoopys Bar in Lanzarote. It was a Hak family tradition and a standing joke that almost every holiday we had been on resulted at one time or another with a "fall" by Tracy of some description. Whether it was the Lanzarote slip, the speedboat snag in the Maldives, the kitchen incident in Portugal or the trip over the kerb in Old Town Florida, the list was endless. Almost every time it would be performed in broad daylight, in front of a gazing public, and never result in any real injury, other than embarrassment. But the best was on arrival at the hotel we were to stay at during the duration of our holiday to Hong Kong. When we got to the hotel after a long, long journey, and were fully loaded with suitcases, hand luggage and the kitchen sink, we were greeted with the main entrance which was situated on a narrow and very busy overcrowded pavement bustling with a population going about their lunchtime business. As the sliding doors of the hotel opened to greet us with a huge, icy cold, air conditioned marbled foyer, complete with doormen and an attentive reception desk,Tracy had her holiday fall. As a result of tripping on a tiny step she proceeded to dive into the hotel with a style even Tom Daley would have been proud of. As a result, her handbag slid 3 meters across the floor stopping only to hit the checking in desk. Tracy was left lying across the hotel threshold, after only making it half way in, with every part of her from the waist down still outside on the sidewalk, forcing the locals to walk in the busy road to avoid her. We of course stood there laughing hysterically as she cringed and turned a beetroot red, whilst for the next half a minute or so the staff were staring in disbelief and the automatic doors were juddering backwards and forwards in complete confusion as to what was going on. Thankfully no damage was done, the holiday fall was out of the way early and the rest of our time there went very smoothly, Tracy having one of her best holidays ever.
